Adviser on Information and Broadcasting Md. Nahid Islam has assured to take steps to ensure justice for all the incidents of torture and persecution of journalists in the country, including the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Mehrun Rooney. At the same time, he said that there is no place for corruption and nepotism, indicating the formation of an independent media commission. We have initially thought about an independent media commission. I will discuss with the journalists what will be its outline. I want to discuss with the journalist society and take these initiatives in view of their statements.

Nahid Islam said that the government wants the trial of Sagar-Rooney's murder in a quick time and said, "I don't want any kind of farce and controversy about it.

After taking charge of Information and Broadcasting Ministry after ICT and Telecom, he joined the office at the Secretariat on Sunday (August 18) for the first time. While exchanging views with journalists Md. Nahid Islam requested the officials not to call him 'sir'. He said, 'I have come here as your child. I have come from the people; I have brought the demands of the people. I have brought the dream of a new Bangladesh. I want your cooperation.'

Calling for more films to fulfill the aspirations of young filmmakers, Postal and Telecommunication Advisor Nahid Islam said that the films which were not released due to the censor board will be dealt with quickly. I will rebuild the sensor board quickly. The demand of not having a censor board will also be discussed and a decision will be made according to the rationale. Apart from the Censor Board, other Jury Boards (National Film Awards, Government Grants) should be reformed as soon as possible. Overall, we have a lot of work to do with the film. The younger generation has a lot of aspirations towards filmmaking. More films need to be made to fulfill the aspirations of young filmmakers.

He said, the biggest strength of the media is neutrality. But in the case of media in our country, like Awami League-BNP, there are two divisions in the media. These issues will be considered by the journalists, so that no such partisanship is seen among the journalists. So that they can speak for the people from a neutral place.

When asked about the fact that many people can now file a case against someone due to a personal dispute, Nahid Islam said, "We have instructions that those who were not involved in the crime should not be punished in any way." Even if there are cases, they will be taken on the basis of clear investigation. Specific instructions have been given to the Ministry of Law in that regard.

When attention was drawn to the widespread corruption in DFP and PIB, the adviser said, "We have said that there is no place for corruption and nepotism." Institutions should be completely neutral.

When media workers drew attention to the legal issue, he said, "I will look into it."

The ICT advisor also mentioned the need to speed up and modernize the institutions under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, including BTV.
